Thank you for your interest in the
TransparentSea Reporting Solution (TRS).
The
TRS line of products was designed to perform either as an
intranet-based application (company's internal use) or as an
industry wide vessel condition knowledgebase.
Applying TRS either way enables users to
visualize vessel condition reports. These reports can later be
published, shared, and accessed by different parties such
as:
- Port State Control Authorities
- Ship Owners
- Ship Managers
- Ship Brokers
- Financial Institutions
- And Accident Investigation Teams to name a few.
TRS as an Intranet-based application:
If
used as an intranet-based application, reports can be published and
accessed by users within the company. Should a third party require
access to a report within a company's TRS intranet, they would need
to know who to approach to gain access and confirm that there was a
report of interest.
Possible uses of the system on an Intranet basis
include, a paint supplier who needs to record the application and
current condition of a coating; or a shipyard that needs to monitor
and report work progress for vessel repairs.
TRS as an industry wide vessel condition
knowledgebase:
The
end goal of TRS is to make vessel condition reports securely
available to the industry.
To
enable owners of reports to do this, they need to register their TRS
reports repository with the "TransparentSea Membership System."
For
instance, someone who wants to know the condition of vessel "ABC"
would register with TRS and be given an account. After registering with TRS,
they can now search all TRS registered repositories for reports on
vessel ABC and access a table of the reports available for that
vessel.
These reports can be a:
- Dry Dock report submitted by the operator /manager,
- Asset Protection submitted by a financial
institution,
- Monthly or quarterly condition surveys submitted by
the operator / manager
- And Flag and Port State reports on multiple
repositories.
How do I view a report in TRS?
After users select which report they would like to
access and provide a reason for wanting access, TRS requests
permission from the relevant vessel report repository owners.
The
request can either be granted or denied by the report owner on a
report-by-report basis.
Assuming the request is granted, the requesting party
can now view the reports for an agreed period of time.
As
an industry wide knowledge base of vessel condition is where the
major power of the TRS system lies.
An organization can start by using the system for
internal use and later on join the network of repository owners in
the industry initiative.
TRS is Secured and Tamper Proof
Aside from viewing the vessel condition from a wide
degree of viewpoints such as a Dry Dock report (which they would not
normally be able to gain access to), the system provides a high
degree on non-repudiation and security through the use of Public
Key
Infrastructure (PKI).
This
not only ensures that the viewer knows where the report came from,
but also that none of the digital media, text, or other content of
the report has been altered since its creation.
I am not a big maritime organization, can I still use
TRS?
TRS
can also be used by a small inspection type organization /
individual. This
ensures that report data can still be received in a consistent and
timely fashion. This allows future comparisons on multiple condition
reports for the same vessel and uploading into repositories.
If
you have an inspection team of your own perhaps you would like to
trial the system with them?
We
hope we have provided a better insight into what we are trying to
achieve. We also have attached a link to an article on TRS that
appeared in International Ship Operator for further reference.
